Testimonials
- Michael, Thank you so much for all your assistance with this shoot and for being so accommodating with the many questions we fired your way. Katy and Tom both had a great shoot with you and they really valued your knowledge and expertise. Looking forward to working with you again,
Susan Scott, BBC Films - Hi Michael,
Just writing to thank you for an awesome workshop. You not only gave me a few game-changing photography tips and ideas to ponder, but also offered many essential and helpful hints to consider when shooting wildlife in particular. You take the time to answer any question, big or small. There was one particular event that sticks out in my mind. It was when I successfully captured that redpoll on the tree-top perch. You saw the image in my viewfinder, grabbed my shoulders and were genuinely as excited as me. It is heartwarming to see that after all the years you have been doing this and after seeing thousands upon thousands of redpolls, it has not gotten old for you! As you know, I have been on quite a few tours/workshops in the recent past, but have yet to meet anyone who truly cared that we all got "the shot" ...until yesterday! You are one of a kind. And I am not just saying all of this to butter you up so you will save me a spot on your moose and Costa Rica Tours. LOL I look forward to our next adventure together!!
Patti L - Moose are one of my favorite animals. I am not sure why, they just always have been... Our trip to Algonquin Park was all about moose photography and it was truly awesome! The combination of Michael Bertelsen and Algonquin Park is unbeatable... Michael's expertise and non-invasive approach to wildlife gets you in close to the moose without impacting their normal behavior, perfect for getting those special images. The perspective from the boat is unique and provides a background of the beautiful shoreline and trees as the moose indulge endlessly on lily pads. Thanks, Michael, for a great adventure. We are already planning our next trip.
Larry K - Michael, I want to express my thanks for your recent Loon Tour (July 12/13) that I had the pleasure of attending. The efforts you made to provide your guests with outstanding opportunities exceeded my expectations. Your knowledge of the subject matter and how best to approach a setting from a photographic standpoint ensured that everyone came away with fantastic shots and memories. Any level of photographer could attend one of your tours and come away completely satisfied with the experience you offer.I am already thinking of attending future sessions in the years to come.
Richard P - Hi Michael, Andy, Rosemarie and I all wish to convey our special thanks to you for providing such a fantastic workshop for us! Comments from the group as follows:Thanks for being so helpful and professional while we were taking our photos eg. Loon approaching from the left etc., watch as she is bringing a big fish for the baby. This is most helpful when one is looking through the lens.We all had fun and loved your planned itinerary as well as providing such an excellent finale by taking us down the river which was beaming with beautiful wildlife creatures! Rosemarie just commented that it must have been really good as we all want to go back! Please keep us posted and enjoy the rest of summer and good luck with your house building!
Regards from Joan, Rosemarie & Andy - I am a first time participant in one of Michael's workshops and boy did I luck out and choose the right one. First of all, I am veteran of photography workshops and this was by far one of the best for many reasons which I will summarize. We had a small group of wonderful people who got along extremely well (large groups are hard to shoot with). The transportation and lodging was prearranged including airport pickup personally. He arranged our wonderful meals and he was our driver, guide and scout and entertainer all in one. Michael is extremely affable and easy to talk to and ask questions and he pointed out tips in technique when necessary. He always ensured we got first crack at the shots before he even pulled out his camera. Foremost, he is an honest and ethical nature photographer. We had such a great time together and had so many memorable photo ops that I am going to sign up for more of his workshops.
Thank you Michael! Karl C - Michael, Overdue in thanking you for your wonderful Loon/Moose photo workshop last month. As you know I do a fair bit of wildlife & landscape photography around North America, including attending a number of well known workshops.
My experience with you was world class, not only because of the scenery & wildlife but largely because of your knowledge and enthusiasm. I am already making plans for another trip with you.
Thanks, Jack P - Hi Michael, I just want to thank you for the wonderful trip to Alaska to photograph the brown bears. It is the most awesome feeling to stand on the ground with one of earth's most powerful creatures. One of the best times was seeing the female dig a hollow in the sand and then lay down to nurse her twin cubs. The lodge you picked for us to stay at was beautiful and the food was great, especially the fresh salmon. You are a very knowledgeable guide and you really know your wildlife. I have been on many trips with other guides or workshop organizers and they are not even close to you. You're very considerate of your clients, you don't leave us, you are always available for help {not worried about getting your photos at any time} and give us some of the best photo advice and opportunities ever. I am looking forward to going on many more trips with you in the future.
Wendy M. - Mike, Just wanted to say thanks for our loon trip last week. Both Michele and I got some great shots.
You're a real expert on understanding loons and how to get us superb photo ops without stressing them!!
I'll be back for sure,
Sam S - Mike is a real professional. He has the technical expertise to give the photographer the best opportunity to make that unique shot, while at the same time respecting the wildlife and its environment. I've done a number of trips with Mike over the last few years and look forward to many more in the future.
Doug M - Michael, I wanted to thank you for an outstanding journey into Algonquin Park.
I've had the Loon "Changing of the Guard" on my photography bucket list for 10 years. So having the chance to witness and photograph such an event first hand was a special moment indeed.
Bill M - I would highly recommend Mike Bertelsen's workshops & tours. Before going on some of Mike's trips I had absolutely zero Loon & Moose Images that were worth printing. Now I have dozens, with offers from co-workers to purchase prints. Mike is an accomplished photographer in his own right and knows the park and it's wildlife within. Most importantly Mike respects the animals we are photographing and never puts taking pictures over the animal's welfare. Last but not least, he's great company.
Rob C - Mike, The many different wildlife experiences I have had with you will remain as some of the highlights in my lifetime. Without your guidance, I would have never had taken the AAA+ shots I have today.
I will continue to pursue my passion in wildlife photography and look forward to joining you on future trips.
